One of my favorite ways to spend an evening on the Central Coast is heading down to Oceano for a beach bonfire at sunset. It’s such an easy drive from SeaCrest, and it always feels like the perfect way to slow things down after a day of exploring.
I usually start by heading south on PCH for less than 10 minutes until I get into Oceano. Once you reach Pier Avenue, make a right at Old Juan’s Cantina and follow the road all the way to the end where the drive-on beach entrance is. Along that stretch, you’ll almost always find a few small stands selling firewood, which makes it super easy to grab everything you need without planning ahead.
Once I’m out on the sand, I like to find a good spot, get a fire going, and just settle in. There’s something about being out there with the ocean right in front of you that instantly relaxes everything. As the sun starts to set, the colors over the water are incredible, and it’s one of those moments that never really gets old no matter how many times you see it.
As it gets a little cooler, that’s when the s’mores come out. It’s simple, but sitting around a fire with something sweet and the sound of the waves in the background just feels like the perfect way to end the day. Whether you’re with friends, family, or just enjoying a quiet evening, it always turns into one of those nights you remember.
