Come view northern elephant seals during their time onshore at Piedras Blancas. The viewing areas are located 90 miles south of Monterey, 5 miles north of Hearst Castle State Historical Monument in San Simeon, 1.5 miles south of Point Piedras Blancas. The viewing areas are open every day of the year, are wheelchair accessible, and free. No reservations required.
No one likes surprises, so we wanted to let you know that sections of our lower parking lot will be temporarily impacted due to resurfacing work taking place May 18-21 and May 25-28.
Work on the lower south parking lot is currently underway and is expected to continue through May 21, with the lower north parking lot scheduled for May 25-28. During this time, parking availability may be more limited than usual, and guests may notice increased daytime construction activity in these areas.
The good news? Our pools, hot tubs, firepits, rooftop terrace, and ocean views are all ready to enjoy — and of course…the beach never closes.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we refresh our parking areas for an even better guest experience.
